Eagle View Basecamp, Kenya

Eagle View rests on a natural hilltop, for exceptional views of Naboisho Conservancy. The camp overlooks a waterhole, often visited by an array of wildlife including majestic elephants. The intention of Eagle View was to blend the best of eco-friendly architecture with state-of-the-art minimalist design that compliments the stunning natural surroundings. In 2013, Eagle View was named one of the top twenty-five eco-lodges in the world by National Geographic Traveller’s Magazine – the only camp in Kenya on the list.

Basecamp Explorer Kenya operates camps across Masai Mara and as a Wildlife and Conservation oriented organization working closely with the community, Basecamp has a strong commitment to practice sustainable developments. Eagle View is a Silver Eco Rated Camp and operates in a Conservancy model. The model includes the participation of 500 Masai families who have given their land in trust and in return receive a monthly income as per their size of land. This ensures the future conservation of the land and its people.

Basecamp Kenya works closely with the local Masai community in the development of sustainable tourism destinations that provide economic and social benefits. The goal is to create an enabling environment for community wealth creation, ecotourism investments and conservation, through engaging with host communities, ecotourism investors and organizations, social investors, philanthropists and like-minded organizations to innovative approaches to natural resource wealth creation, community empowerment, resource management and traveler donations.
